Transcription of a 1915 - 1919 diary written by my husband's grandmother Ada May (Grimshaw) Illingworth who lived in Springfield, Vermont.
I am so grateful that we don't have to iron so much. It seems that Ella and her girls are always ironing, too.
ReplyDeleteMy mother marvels now at the fact that in the 1950s-1960s she ironed sheets, underwear, socks and even diapers! That was what was done in England.

But yes, way too much ironing. And she's still ironing the next day!
