Transcription of a 1915 - 1919 diary written by my husband's grandmother Ada May (Grimshaw) Illingworth who lived in Springfield, Vermont.
Dear Deborah, I now work with your husband and he sent me here, after a conversation we had about history and old diaries (I have one from 1912, I think, that I bought at an antiques store.) This blog is a great idea. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteJessie -thanks for checking this out. I really love this diary - although it is repetitive and many entries are mundane it ends up creating such a real picture of Ada's life, town and era.
ReplyDeleteUnder my blog list "Ella and I" is another diary put up by my friend Mary. Her diarist was a Ferrisburgh woman and the diary is from 1900. Mary is also posting every day. Where is your diary from? It would be so cool to get yours on a blog too - and compare all three.
BTW - just have to say I love your column. The last one - the sluggish teens, the single serving gallon ice cream and loaves etc. SO familiar, so funny.
Hi Jessie--I love your column too. And I'd really like to see your diary!
