Sorry, everyone -
Life was a little too full of stuff this year and I just lost the momentum to continue.

Sun  Beautiful

May went to S.S. in A.M. Woke up with headache. Took salts. Lots better. Marion - May & I went to walk in P.M.  Mother Marion & I went to Methodist Church in Eve.

 Cleaned pantry in A.M. May went to Shirley's Red Cross party in P.M. .25 cents. Marion & I went down town in P.M. Mother & I in Eve. E. is a lot better.

Fri. Lovely

Cleaned down stairs. Big German drive began on Gen. Haig. British. Terrible. May went to Movies in P.M. for school at 2-30. Marion, Mother & I went in Eve.

May went to school again. Seemed queer to go all day. Worked all day. Cleaned up stairs. Went over to Helen's after school.

Gave May good dose of Castorig. E. is all to pieces. wish he would stay home from the office.

May is gaining. Ernest ears are still aching. Bell & Barnum are helping him out. Went to bed early. All in.

May is better. Went to bed early. E. is bad again. Wish he would go to Drs. Held May nearly all day. Ma came in & Pa.

Dr. came in A.M. to see May. thinks she is improving. changed medicine. Ma came in. E. still is suffering.

Worked hard all day. Mother & Marion & I went down town in Eve.Went to Dr. got some medicine for her. Bought plant.Maizie H. party at Herricks. Herricks bought ice cream for May. Could not go.

May is still on gain slowly. Ear still aches. Held her nearly all day. E. is still bad both ears are bum. Suffers terribly.

Thurs. cold

May is better. Ear still aches. E. has come down with it. Was up all night with it. Ulcer broke in ear. Terrible pain. What next.

Wed. Lovely

May was sick all night. Had high fever & delirious. Had doctor in A.M. Cattaral [sic] cold. Glands swollen. Awful sick.

May has a terrible earache. Cried all A.M. Held her nearly all day. E. got medicine. Hope she will be better. Ma & Pa came in.

May started school this A.M. Liked it. Went to Movies in Eve. with Mother & Marion. E. is on the mend. Wish I could sport.

March 10, 1918

Sun. Snow all night and all the day

May went to S.S. in a.M. It stopped almost at noon but started up again. E. stayed in bed nearly all day. I am all discouraged.

March 9, 1918

Sat. Cold

May is better a whole lot. Went down for me in A.M. & P.M. Ma & I went down town in Eve. Had lots of fun. E. was sick. I wonder why.

Note: I think she means he's sick from drinking.

May did not go to school. Slept until 11-15. Had good rest. Ironed in A.M. & P.M. Went to club at Mrs. Albee's in Eve. Mr. Flanders spoke.

Ironed May's dress. Went down town in A.M. Went to Red Cross benefit in P.M. & Eve. Mother went in P.M. May & Marion spoke. May did fine. Spoke, "One of Those Awful Children." Great.

May seems some better. Miss Flavin wrote her a nice letter. Embroidered on May's dress. Very pretty. Tired.

Tues. fien & Warmer

Town meeting day. Teachers got raise. Mr. Thompson is dead. Also Mr. Forbush. Marion went to Reception. Miss Hobbs & Harriman came. May is about the same.

May has a terrible cold. Did not go to school. Helen brought her arithmetic. Went to Ideal with Mother in Eve. Marion went to Parent - Teachers.

Bought eggs and butter of Huntoon. May went out to play in P.M. & got soaking wet. Went down town in P.M. & Eve with Mother. Had fun.

March has come in like a lamb. May has a little cold. got her a dress at Jones'. Very pretty. Cleaned up stairs in A.M. and worked until 4 P.M.

Ironed in a.M. Went down town in P.M. May went over to Helen's in P.M. Mr. Forbush is very sick. Miss Booth is worse. Too bad.

May took lesson in P.M. Paid. Went down town in P.M. Went to Movies in Eve. with Mother & May. Madame Petrova. "More truth than Pretty."

Coal did not come. Mother - Marion & I went to Albee's to the kids show. It was fine. "The Fairies Dream." They made $2.31 and gave it to the Red Cross. Mr. Berent is sick.

Ma came over in A.M & Eve. Pa came in P.M. Went down town in P.M. May went after pussy willows. Got feet wet. Miss Booth is better.

School did not keep it was so cold. British Liner tuscania sunk with U.S. troops on. 167 lost. We did not go out all day. May went to Helens. May took music lessons.

My cold is terrible. May went to Marie Dressel's party in P.M. Ma & Pa came over. Sewed in P.M. Went to bed early. Tired.

Cleaned up stairs. Roof leaked in Marrons roof [?] and in kitchen. E. chopped ice from roof at noon & Eve. Pa & Fred came over. Ma went out. Went home.

Sent the last of the Xmas packages yesterday. Thank goodness. Had a grand time over home Turkey dinner. May had tree. she was happy. Marion stayed. Got dishes. Silk dress. May got wrist watch. Ma got two chairs.

Marion & I went to Xmas concert in A.M. yesterday. Had it today to save fuel. May spoke first yesterday. Fred & Ma & Pa came over. Knit.

Fred came home Ma & I went down town yesterday. in P.M. Got 2 lbs. of sugar at Stearrns & Handys. Marion got Ma some. Shopped in Eve yesterday. Tired.

May spoke at school yesterday. Went to rehearsal at church after school yesterday. Mother & I went down town in P.M. yesterday. Class to us.

Ironed in A.M. Went down town in P.M. Met May after school. Mother came at 9 in Eve. Oyster stew for her.

Lester Stiles closed up. Went home and swept house. Made pie. Went down town in P.M. Went to meet Ma in eve. Did not come.

Marion is better. May brought home an excellent report card. Glad. She & Grandpa went down town. Mr. Hoisington buried. Got letter from Ma.

Marion has terrible cold. Doane came up in Eve. Pa came over in P.M. took Sam's breakfast over to him. Worked all day. Did not change dress.

Note: Doane is a Doctor. While Ada's mother is away on an extended visit, Ada is helping out with everything at that house too, including laundry and housework for Pa and taking over breakfast for her mother's brother, Sam.
I guess not changing her dress is an indication of how busy she is - since she apparently changed after her work was done on most days.

Marion, May & I went to Claremont at 11:40 home at 7. Had a good time. Had tow Westerns. They were good. E. had a nice hot oyster stew waiting for us.

Snow is terrible deep. May wore leggings to school. Ironed in A.M. Went home. Got letter from Ma. Sewed and knit. Pa came in. Early to bed.

May & I went to "Runaways." Very good. Cold there. Went home. Pa came over. Sewed in P.M. Snow deep when we came home. Tired.
